Police seek identities of two subjects after Friday night NFA shooting

NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh Police Department is asking for help in identifying two “persons of interest” in the Friday night shooting at NFA that resulted in three people getting shot.  No arrests have been made as of Saturday.

Police are asking anyone who may know the identities of the subjects or has any information regarding the shooting is asked to call the city’s detective division at 845-569-7509.  Callers are allowed to remain anonymous.

Newburgh Police Chief Anthony Geraci said a football game between Newburgh Free Academy and Warwick High School had just concluded at 9:35 p.m. when a fight broke out in a parking lot at Newburgh Free Academy with at least five gunshots fired. An estimated 2,000 spectators were leaving the game when the gunfire erupted.

Responding police located three victims, all City of Newburgh residents, suffering from gunshot wounds. 

  • Victim one is a 43-year-old woman who was shot in the foot. 
  • The second victim is a 19-year-old woman who was shot in the thigh.
  • The third victim is a 21-year-old man who was shot in the ankle.

Police and Mobile Life Support EMS rendered aid to all three victims and transported them to St. Luke’s-Cornwall Montefiore Hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to Chief Geraci.
