ELLENVILLE – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through its Health Resources and Services Administration, has awarded $1 million to Ellenville Regional Hospital to help it reduce the morbidity and mortality of rural residents from substance use disorder.

“Our rural communities have been deeply impacted by the opioid crisis, and this funding will allow expansion of crucial treatments and preventative services for substance use,” said newly elected Congressman Patrick Ryan (D, NY-19). “We need to leverage every tool at our disposal to address the opioid and overdose epidemic, and this funding represents a huge step forward for New York’s 19th Congressional District,” he said.

Hospital President Steven Kelley said the opioid epidemic has been “particularly difficult for rural areas like Ellenville, and this funding will transform our ability to both prevent and treat opioid use disorder in the region.”
