Marist College President Dr. Kevin Weinman formally inaugurated on Friday

TOWN OF POUGHKEPSIE – As Dr. Kevin Weinman completes his first year on the job as Marist College’s fifth president, the college community celebrated his formal inauguration on Friday.

In a two-hour outdoor ceremony, Weinman, who left his job as chief financial officer at Amherst College, was praised for his leadership.

He talked about the past, present, and future of the more than 90-year-old liberal arts college.

  • “Marist is an institution rich in history and well positioned to thrive in the years ahead. Our mission, excellence in education, a sense of community, and a commitment to service, is perfectly aligned to meet the needs of the current moment. It’s what compels top faculty and staff to want to work here, talented students to work to work here, and alumni want to return here, again and again,” he told those in attendance.

Over 5,000 students are attending the college overlooking the Hudson River in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
