Traffic stop leads to arrests of five on weapons charges

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A vehicle and traffic stop on Interstate 84 in the Town of Newburgh at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16 led to the arrests of five persons on illegal gun possession and other charges.

State Police pulled over the 2015 BMW-328i with a fraudulent Georgia temporary license plate.

A search of the vehicle yielded a Glock 27 pistol, several forged checks, stolen debit cards, $10,000 in cash, a stolen US Postal Service key, and several bank receipts for cashing forged checks totaling over $50,000.

The driver, Richie Guillaume, 22, of Bloomfield, New York, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and three counts of possession of a forged instrument.

The four passengers in the vehicle, Gerson Polanco, 25, of Passaic, New Jersey; Francisco Tejada-Vargas, 24, of Sleepy Hollow; Jaquil Tucker, 22, of Warwick; and Rayon Thomas, 25, of Paterson, New Jersey, were all charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a forged instrument.  Tucker was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

All five were arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $7,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond, and partially secured bond of $40,000.
