KAUNEONGA LAKE – Fire that broke out early Wednesday gutted two large buildings at a food processing plant in Kauneonga Lake.

Fire Chief Mark Pennell said 15 fire departments were on the scene battling the blaze with five others on standby.

He termed it one of the largest fires in Sullivan County and because of recent weather conditions, it was difficult to fight.

“Our water source was a problem. We have one right on the opposite side of the building. Unfortunately, because of the weed growth and the water shortage this year, we just didn’t have water, so we started running tankers to a local lake. We had a contingency plan in place, that if this did happen. So, everything worked out well,” he told Mid-Hudson News.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reports of any injuries during firefighting operations at the 22 Lower Industrial Park Road blaze.

In the face of such catastrophic fires, it is the firefighters who are at the forefront. They are not afraid of danger and risk their lives to protect the lives and property of the people, which is one of the important reasons why they are worthy of our admiration.

If you also want to pay tribute and express gratitude to these great firemen, the firefighter challenge coins will be a good choice. During the customization process of these challenge coins, you can also add messages of thanks to them.
