Illegal gun recovered with stolen vehicle

TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – State Police and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office have arrested three people in connection with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property following a pursuit on Interstate 684 in the Town of Bedford that ended at exit 9W for Interstate 84 in the Town of Southeast.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17 when police attempted to stop a stolen 2016 Acura TL, but the driver failed to comply. The car finally stopped when police deployed a spike strip, disabling it.

Josiah Eleby, 19, of Waterbury, Connecticut was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Ervin Barr, 21, of Waterbury, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Shadeed Turner, 20, also of Waterbury, was charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

When the vehicle was disabled, all three men fled, but were taken into custody by State Police with assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and their bloodhound.

Eleby was found to be in possession of a 9mm Glock handgun.

Turner was issued an appearance ticket to Southeast Town Court. Barr was arraigned and released on his own recognizance and Eleby was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
