NEW CITY – A 32-year-old Spring Valley man was convicted in Rockland County Court in a sexual abuse case.

District Attorney Thomas Walsh II said Holger Chuya-Andrade was found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and course of sexual conduct against a child, both as felonies.

From May 1, 2011 through May 1, 2014, Chuya-Andrade engaged in a course of sexual abuse that started when the victim was seven years old and continued until she was 10 years old.

Chuya-Andrade is the victim’s biological uncle.

He was remanded to the Rockland County Jail until sentencing in November when he faces up to life in prison on the top count. He will also be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.

The investigation was conducted by the Spring Valley Police Department with assistance from the DA’s office.

“The verdict of guilty on all counts by a jury is the first step in securing justice for the victim,” said Walsh.  “My office will work tirelessly to protect innocent children. Heinous crimes against children in Rockland County are reprehensible and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
