Flags to fly at half-staff to honor Queen Elizabeth II

ALBANY – Governor Kathy Hochul has announced flags on state buildings will be flown at half-staff on Friday, September 9 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II who died at age 96 on Thursday.

“Queen Elizabeth II was a force on the world stage for decades and an inspiring female leader who leaves a lasting legacy,” Governor Hochul said. “New York joins the people of the United Kingdom and all those who are mourning in honoring her life, and we send our prayers to her family.”

The queen’s reign lasted for 70 years and with her passing, her son and former Prince Charles becomes King Charles III.
