Police identify Delaware drowning victim

TOWN OF HIGHLAND – State Police have released the identity of a man who drowned in the Delaware River in the Town of Highland last Saturday as Ricardo Ismalej Xujar, 47, of Flanders, New York.

Troopers said Xujar was at the Landers Minisink Campground with family and friends for the holiday weekend when he entered the river at about 1:30 p.m. and attempted to swim across. He became fatigued and went under the water and did not resurface, police said.

He was located at about 6:43 p.m. and pronounced dead by Town of Highland Ambulance Paramedics.
