TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A 37-year-old Albany man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after the August 26th attack that occurred on a commercial bus traveling on the Thruway.  Maleek Phillips was also charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.

The bus was traveling south on the Thruway from Albany en route to New York City when a fight broke out between two men.  The bus pulled over in the Town of Newburgh where state troopers and EMS responded.  The victim was treated for a stab wound and Phillips was taken into custody at the scene.

Phillips was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail.  He was also indicted on the same charges by an Orange County Grand Jury on September 2.
