MONTGOMERY –Eric Norberg, of Highland, loves aviation and is the son of a pilot, and Saturday he attended the New York International Air Show at the Orange County Airport outside the Village of Montgomery.

The weekend-long show featured a B-25 from WWII and the United States Air Force’s Thunderbirds flying precision team. The Thunderbirds flew the F-16, which joined the team in 1983 and can reach Mach 2, or 1,500 MPH.

Other flying demonstrations were also conducted under blue skies and temperatures that reached into the mid-80s.

Norberg was thrilled by the show.

“This is amazing to have this here locally in the Hudson Valley,” he said. “It’s in my blood.”

Rob Stave, of Connecticut and who has his pilot’s license, also attended the air show, and he did so from the photo pit, which has a close view of a runway, the center stage of the show.

“I want to see the Thunderbirds and some war birds from WW II,” said Stave.

Thousands came to the airport over the weekend to see the flying machines from many eras.
