Hudson Valley/Catskills unemployment low in July

ALBANY – All counties in the region saw their unemployment rates decline in the 12 months that ended in July compared to the same period last year.

Columbia County scored 2.9 percent unemployment in the 12 months ending in July, the State Labor Department said. That is the lowest rate in the region and 10 percent lower than the same period in 2021.

Putnam Rockland and Sullivan counties each had 3.2 percent rates of joblessness. Dutchess County came in at 3.3 percent.

Those were followed by Ulster County at 3.4 percent, Westchester and Orange counties at 3.5 percent, Greene County with 3.6 percent unemployment and Delaware County at 3.9 percent.
