TOWN OF WALLKILL – The body of 21-year-old Brittan Hendershot, who was reported missing to Port Jervis Police on July 5, has been found in a wooded area of the Town of Wallkill, State Police said Thursday.

She was last seen in Wallkill and the Port Jervis City Police and State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation were joined with other agencies looking for her.

On Monday, August 15, a law enforcement team conducted a search of a wooded area in Wallkill where her remains were located.

An autopsy performed by the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the woman as Brittany Hendershot.

Brittany had just given birth in May.

Her own birthday would have been Friday, August 19. She would have turned 22.

Heather Callas

A second Port Jervis woman, 28-year-old Heather Callas, was reported missing on June 20. She has not been heard from since then.

She was reported to have been picked up by a taxicab on that day and transported from Big Pond Road in Huguenot and driven to the area of the Family Dollar Store in Port Jervis.

According to her grandfather, Heather has struggled through tough times.
