COXSACKIE – It was not the usual snap, crackle, pop in a box of Rice Krispies that staff at Greene Correctional Facility opened up.
Personnel noticed inconsistencies with the cereal box, opened it up and found a cell phone and charging cable molded into the snacks.
Incidents like this are why the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision “remains diligent in their overall search and x-ray inspections to detect abnormalities as well as further justifies the need for our vendor package program to keep our facilities safe,” a statement from the department read.
