WAPPINGERS FALLS – Police investigated a serious multi-vehicle crash that shut down a major road in Dutchess County.

It happened in the northbound lanes of Route 9 just south of Myers Corners Road late Friday afternoon.

A mini school bus was seen slammed into the back of a BMW SUV.

There was no word if any children were on the bus.

Police on the scene confirm another BMW sedan careened off the road and down an embankment.

It took until well past dark for wrecking crews to pull that badly damaged car up onto a tow truck.

Witnesses say they saw at least three ambulances rush to the scene.

No word on just how badly anybody was hurt.

State Police investigators spent hours collecting evidence and interviewing victims.

Route 9 was fully reopened around 10 o’clock in the evening.
