Beacon Mayor Lee Kyriacou is thrilled that the dummy light at Main and East Main has been restored

BEACON – The dummy traffic light at the intersection of Main and East Main Streets in the City of Beacon has been repaired and restored and is back up and running.

The light had been destroyed months ago when a vehicle struck it.

The light, dating back to 1926, is a beacon of pride for Beacon residents and adds smiles to the faces of visitors to the city.

Highway Superintendent Michael Manzi coordinated the restoration efforts, working with staff and vendors in the area.

Mayor Lee Kyriacou was relieved that the light was restored. “I was getting ready to direct traffic with red and yellow lanterns this weekend,” he said. “So, it is with great pleasure that I can announce that the dummy light is back up, and I’m proud of the beautiful result thanks to the efforts of our dedicated staff.”
