Police investigate second shooting in less than 12 hours

City of Poughkeepsie Police at the North White Street shooting.

POUGHKEEPSIE – City police are investigating a North White Street shooting that sent a 29-year-old man to the hospital on Tuesday morning.  The incident was reported to City of Poughkeepsie 911 at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Responding officers were told that the victim had been transported to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in a private vehicle.

According to City of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Rich Wilson, several shell casings and other evidence were collected in the area of 7 North White Street.  A police K-9 unit was assisting in evidence recovery at the scene.

Additional officers and detectives responded to the hospital to interview the victim, who sustained non-life-threatening wounds.

Less than 12 hours earlier, a man was shot near the intersection of Smith and Mansion Streets and later died at the hospital.
