Cadets march back from Beast Barracks in 2021

WEST POINT – New cadets from the U.S. Military Academy Class of 2026 will conclude their Cadet Basic Training with a 12-mile road march from Lake Frederick to West Point on Monday, August 8.

The March Back begins before sunrise when the new cadets depart Lake Frederick on foot and travel along Routes 293 and 9W and then cross over the West Point Golf Course bridge.

This event is the culmination of six weeks of Cadet Basic Training, a rigorous program that trains new cadets in basic military skills and prepares them for entry into the Corps of Cadets.

The Class of 2026 reported to West Point for Reception Day on June 27.

The cadets will pass in review, displaying a banner featuring their newly created class motto for the first time in front of Quarters 100, the superintendent’s residence, at approximately 11 a.m. This event acknowledges the cadets’ successful completion of one of the most demanding challenges they will encounter during their 47-month cadet experience.

Members of the Class of 2026 will be officially accepted into the Corps of Cadets during the Acceptance Day parade scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 13.
