LOCH SHELDRAKE – Interest in SUNY Sullivan’s Promise Scholarship program has doubled since the county initially rolled it out during the last academic year.

The program offers free tuition and fees to any student who graduated from high school or a GED program in the county, said College President Jay Quaintance.

“Our application rate is up 58 percent over last year. Our acceptance rate is up similarly, and we are working very, very hard to convert those accepted students into enrolled students for this coming fall,” he said. “It’s an exciting time here in Sullivan County. There is a lot of opportunity, and we want to make sure that we are at the center of that.”

Students accepted in the Promise Scholarship program will save some $6,000 in tuition and fees.
