GOSHEN – The site of the former Orange County Jail, adjacent to the County Government Center in the Village of Goshen has been sitting unused for years since the new jail was constructed and the old one was leveled.
The county legislature, Thursday, approved $100,000 for a study of county office space and County Executive Steven Neuhaus has some ideas about what to do with the old jail site.
“I’d like to build a new health department building and maybe add some other government offices from buildings that we are leasing now like let’s put in some extra offices for veterans’ affairs,” he said.
The county health department is presently housed in a more than 150-year-old building in Goshen.
