WAPPINGERS FALLS – A Thursday morning motor-vehicle accident at approximately 10:20 a.m. has claimed the life of one person and Route 9D was closed between Old Hopewell Road and Baxtertown Road.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Alpine Drive and Route 9D.
The Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene where firefighters from the Hughsonville Fire Department were working to extricate the occupant.
Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Shawn Castano told Mid-Hudson News that the road closure was expected to last two to three hours as investigators examine the scene.
