POUGHKEEPSIE – State Police in conjunction with Poughkeepsie Town and City Police arrested a 58-year-old Poughkeepsie man on a felony charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.  The arrest occurred on July 27.

An investigation by Poughkeepsie Town Police led to the development of illicit drug sales by Gordon Smith, 58, in the Poughkeepsie area.

When troopers and town police attempted to stop Smith in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, he failed to comply and led officers on a short pursuit.

With help from Poughkeepsie City Police, Smith was stopped and arrested on Montgomery Street in Poughkeepsie with a small amount of cocaine on him. He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
