WAWARSING – A 32-year-old Ellenville man has been arrested for allegedly spray painting swastikas and other markings on a receiving vault and headstone at Fantinekill Cemetery on Route 209 in the Town of Wawarsing.
Joseph Pilgrene was arrested on Thursday July 28 on charges of criminal mischief as a hate crime, cemetery desecration, making graffiti and criminal trespass.
Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the cemetery after 5 p.m. on July 25 for a report criminal mischief.
Pilgrene was issued an appearance ticket returnable to town court at a later date.
