WAPPINGER – Dutchess County is going to invest $2.1 million in FAA grant funds to reconstruct and rehabilitate the terminal apron, taxiway and taxiway lighting at Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappinger.

The improvements at the facility that was previously called Dutchess County Airport, include rehabilitation of the existing terminal apron, rehabilitating portions of existing Taxiways E and F, and reconstructing Taxiway E and F edge lighting systems.

“In the past decade, Hudson Valley Regional Airport has gone from being a costly asset for county taxpayers to becoming a profitable endeavor, providing revenue that helps offset other costs, countywide,” said County Executive Marcus Molinaro. “These improvements to the airport, which dates back to the 1930s, will not only enhance viability of the facility for existing users, but will also help attract new ones – bringing more economic benefit to the people of Dutchess County.”

Those are just the latest enhancements at the airport. The county invested nearly $8 million into the construction and development of Dutchess Community College’s educational hangar, which opened in 2021 and provides a state-of-the-art learning environment for DCC aviation students.
