MID-HUDSON – Trees and wires were knocked down by Sunday night’s thunderstorms that rolled through the Mid-Hudson.

Several thousand people lost power in Kingston when the storm struck.

Mayor Steven Noble is not happy with the response, or lack of it, by Central Hudson Gas and Electric. “Yet again, we awake this morning with the largest number of outages within Ulster County and still no word on restoration times. While we only had a few trees/wires down last night, we still ended up with over 2100 customers out. This storm is continuing to show the weakness of Central Hudson’s power system and that it is not ready for our future weather patterns. I’ll be reaching out to the Public Service Commission again to share my concerns. We should at least be getting estimated restoration times 10+ hours after a storm!”

In the Town of Goshen, power lines and trees were downed on 6 ½ Station Road near Orange County’s 911 Center, the sheriff’s office, and county jail.

Orange and Rockland Utilities was called in to address the storm damage and restore power.
