Sullivan County employment grew fastest in June

ALBANY – Private sector jobs in the Hudson Valley rose over the year by 30,500, or 4.0 percent, to 797,200 in June, the State Labor Department announced.

Sullivan County had the greatest job growth at 8.9 percent.

Job gains regionwide were largest in leisure and hospitality at 9,700; professional and business services at 7,400; other services at 4,900; educational and health services at 4,200; natural resources, mining and construction at 2,000; trade, transportation and utilities at 1,500; manufacturing at 1,000; and information at 600.

Job losses were centered in financial activities at 800.

Following Sullivan County’s job growth, the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro area posted June job growth of 4.1 percent.

Ulster County experienced 3.3 percent job growth, followed by the Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division at 2.9 percent.

There was no job growth in Columbia, Delaware, or Greene counties.
