TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Town police have arrested a Schenectady man for his alleged role in an armed robbery that occurred on Friday evening in Manchester Gardens apartments.

Thirty-eight-year-old Joseph Faircloth is charged with the felonies of robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a controlled substance for the July 15 gunpoint robbery at an apartment in Manchester Gardens.

When officers arrived at the scene just before 7 p.m., the victim told them that a man had robbed him at gunpoint.  Officers spotted a man matching the description provided by the victim in the passenger seat of a car leaving the complex.  Officers attempted to stop the car but the suspects fled the area.

The suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Taft Avenue.  The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by town police.  During the investigation, a handgun was located by police.  Two victims in the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The original report from the scene can be found here.

Faircloth, a felon with three prior convictions, was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  The Town of Poughkeepsie Police did not provide the name of the driver of the vehicle that fled or indicate if any charges were pending against them.
