TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Several victims were transported to local hospitals after a pursuit involving Town of Poughkeepsie police on Friday evening.  A vehicle suspected to be involved in a robbery in a town apartment complex was involved in a collision in Arlington around 7:30 p.m.

The intersection in the area of the Acropolis Diner at Main Street and Taft Avenue was closed by first responders as firefighters from Arlington tended to a two-car collision on Taft Avenue, next to the diner.

Sources told Mid-Hudson News that the sedan in the accident had been involved in a robbery earlier at the Manchester Garden Apartments.

The sedan with the suspects struck a vehicle with four occupants on Taft Avenue and became disabled.  The vehicle that was struck had four occupants who were treated by Arlington Fire Department firefighters.  One pediatric patient was transported to a local hospital for further treatment, according to Arlington Fire District Chief Bill Steenbergh.

The white sedan, allegedly belonging to the robbery suspects, was seized at the scene. Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department officials were unreachable on Friday night.

Town of Poughkeepsie police personnel were witnessed canvassing the area of the diner and said to be looking for a handgun.

No additional information was made available on Friday evening.
