CATSKILL – A Greene County man has been sentenced to seven years in state prison followed by two years of post-release supervision for the brutal beating of his former girlfriend.
Anthony Pastel previously pled guilty to assault as a violent felony.
As a result of the beating, the victim sustained a fractured skull, a brain bleed, severe lacerations to her face and lips and a black eye. She spent eight days in Albany Medical Center and then received additional therapy.
Judge Debra Young commended Pastel for his efforts in addressing his alcohol and mental health issues; however, she stressed that he should have sought help prior to the occurrence of this criminal behavior.
