WHITE PLAINS – A former Mount Vernon police officer was sentenced in Westchester County Court to three months in jail and five years of probation for a collision he caused by driving over 120 miles per hour, while off duty, on the Hutchinson River Parkway that resulted in the death of a 52-year-old White Plains resident.
Former officer Antoine Henrys, 39, of Mount Vernon, was speeding on the Hutch at about 9:30 p.m. on September 25, 2020 when he struck the rear of a vehicle, causing the driver to lose control and hit a motorcycle driven by John Osario. He was thrown from the bike into the opposite lanes of travel where he was struck by several cars and killed.
District Attorney Miriam Rocah is “disappointed that the court did not agree with our recommendation that a sentence of state prison be imposed to hold the defendant accountable for causing the victim’s death by his unquestionably dangerous driving.”
