Former Green Haven correction officer who beat up inmate pleads guilty

STORMVILLE – A Hyde Park man who previously served as a corrections officer at Green Haven Correctional Facility pled guilty on Tuesday to a deprivation of constitutional rights under color of law.

Aaron Finn, 36, had assaulted an inmate in custody repeatedly striking him and thrashing his head and body, while the inmate was restrained in handcuffs.

The assault occurred on March 19, 2020 while Finn was an officer at Green Haven depriving the inmate of the constitutional right to be free from excessive force amounting to cruel and unusual punishment.

Finn faces up to 10 years in federal prison when sentenced.
