NEW ROCHELLE – Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with a July 9th carjacking in New Rochelle.  A restaurant owner was carjacked at gunpoint on Saturday morning at approximately 2:44 a.m.

Three teens, ages 15, 16, and 17 have all been charged with felony robbery while displaying a firearm.  They were arraigned and released to the custody of their parents.

Police had responded to 969 Main Street after a restaurant owner was closing his business for the night called to report that he had been accosted by two males, one of which had a gun.  The two males demanded the owner’s car keys and the victim complied and the two men took the vehicle and fled the area.

New Rochelle Detectives, along with the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force developed leads and tracked the vehicle to a neighborhood within the confines of the 47th precinct in the Bronx.

Surveillance on the vehicle was set up with New Rochelle Detectives and FBI personnel.  At about 2:00 pm on Sunday, the suspects returned to the vehicle and were confronted by police, and they ran.  After a brief foot chase, they were caught and taken into custody.   A third suspect was also taken into custody.

The three juveniles are also suspected to be involved with robberies that occurred hours earlier in Connecticut and Portchester in New York.
