Beacon police arrest teen for June shooting of another teen

BEACON – A 17-year-old has been arrested by the Beacon Police Department and charged with shooting another 17-year-old on June 18 in the city.  The names of both teens are being withheld due to their age.

Beacon Police responded to two calls at approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 18, 2022.  The first call was a report of shots fired in the Davies South Terrace Apartments.  The second call was a report of a male with a gunshot wound at the Bridge Inn Boarding House on Route 9D.

Officers responding to the victim’s location found a 17-year-old male with a serious gunshot wound to the torso.  The Beacon Police investigated and identified the second teen as the gunman.

The 17-year-old shooter was arrested on July 8 and charged with the felonies of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.  He was arraigned in Dutchess County Court and remanded to a secure juvenile detention facility without bail.
