CAIRO – Two juveniles were arrested by the state police this week after they allegedly stole a handgun from a woman who had given the youths a ride. The incident occurred on July 4 in Cairo.
State police responded to a report of a stolen handgun from a woman who had given two juveniles a ride to a Cairo store. Authorities say the woman went into the store to purchase a few items, dropped the teens off, and went home to discover that her .25 caliber Beretta was missing from her purse.
The police investigation determined that the juveniles in the vehicle stole the handgun.
On July 5, 2022, troopers arrested one of the juveniles and the second was arrested on July 6, 2022.
Both juveniles were charged with the felonies of grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon.
They were both released on appearance tickets to return to family court at a later date.
