MAYBROOK – An air fryer appears to have been the cause of a fire that destroyed the kitchen at a home at 108 Homestead Avenue in the Village of Maybrook.
The call came in around 10 p.m. Wednesday when the young adult son of the household was home alone, said Maybrook Fire Chief Ed Protsko.
“He said he had burgers in there and all of a sudden it started smoking. He attempted to put it out with an extinguisher they had in the house. It didn’t work. And then he dialed 911,” the chief said.
Much of the rest of the house sustained smoke damage.
There were no injuries.
