Police take another gun off Poughkeepsie streets

POUGHKEEPSIE – A gun reported stolen out of Tennessee was seized and the man possessing was arrested by Poughkeepsie City Police. Officers were engaged in a directed patrol detail related to gun violence.

At around 2:30 a.m. on June 29, officers observed a man in possession of a handgun in the area of Main and White streets.

They attempted to stop the man, later identified as Corey Reed, 28, and he fled on foot. Officers pursued and took him into custody without further incident.

A loaded Glock 9mm handgun with a fully automatic conversion device and an extended magazine was recovered.

Reed was charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.

He was transported to police headquarters for processing.
