MOUNT VERNON – A Mount Vernon man was shot early Monday morning inside of an illegal social club. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m.
On June 27, 2022, Mount Vernon Police Officers responded to the emergency room of Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital for a report of a victim with a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 32-year-old Anthony Reese suffering from a single gunshot wound to his left upper leg. Reese told responding officers that he had been inside 133 South 4th Avenue, Mangoville, in the basement when he was shot.
Police responded to Mangoville, which was locked on their arrival, however staff inside ultimately opened the door. When officers responded to the basement of the location they discovered what appeared to be an illegal social club, complete with a bar and seating.
Police have said there are no suspects and no witnesses have come forward.
