Police recover ghost gun and other weapons during arrest of four teenagers

3 guns recovered during Thursday night's arrests.

POUGHKEEPSIE – City police have released additional details regarding the seizure of three handguns and the arrest of four teenagers that occurred on Thursday night.  The original Mid-Hudson News story documenting the incident can be found here.

 Thomas Gilmore-Rhodes, an 18-year-old Poughkeepsie resident was arrested and charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon after the vehicle he was in was stopped near 37 Hooker Avenue at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Three loaded handguns were seized during the investigation, one of which was a 9mm semi-automatic Polymer 80 “Ghost” gun.  The other two weapons were also 9mm semi-automatic handguns.

According to City of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Richard Wilson, three 17-year-old males were charged with multiple felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon. One of the 17-year-olds charged on Thursday has a previous weapons possession arrest and is currently on probation.

All four young men were held pending arraignment.

“This investigation is part of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department’s “evidence-based strategy” policing initiative, identifying offenders and locations likely to result in shootings, aggravated assaults, and homicides.  The focused efforts of all involved in this “hot spot” area yielded the type of arrests and recovery of illegally possessed weapons as intended,” said Captain Wilson.
