MIDDLETOWN – Redevelopment of the City of Middletown’s O & W Station has begun.

Mayor Joseph DeStefano told the common council Tuesday night that initial work to restore the once-stately building has started.

“The shoring and remediation in underway. That will take about four to five months and while that is ongoing, the final bid documents will be prepared and we hope to have the final bid documents ready for October-November to go out and construction to begin in early ’23,” he said.

The multi-million-dollar project is being funded through a number of sources.

One tenant has already committed, an early education center for children of migrant workers.
