Police identify victims in fatal Palisades Parkway crash

STONY POINT – State Police have identified the man killed in a fluke accident on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Stony Point on Sunday as a Chester resident.

Anthony Apostolico, 48, was a front seat passenger in a pickup truck traveling northbound when a large tree fell from the shoulder of the road and struck the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver, Vincent Apostolico, 20, also of Chester, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

A back seat passenger, Elizabeth Apostolico, 17, also of Chester, was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of leg injuries, police said.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the State Park Police, Stony Point Fire Department, Town of Highlands EMS, Rockland County EMS, and Hatzolah EMS.
