HYDE PARK – Federal, state, county, and local first responders will be conducting training in and around the Hudson River on Wednesday.  Area residents can expect to see and hear a variety of helicopters, drones, and official vessels in the vicinity of Hyde Park, Highland, and Poughkeepsie during the day.

The training, including a helicopter from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and rescue vessels from the Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, and Ulster County Sheriff’s Offices, New York State Police, and others will be operating from a temporary base at Roger’s Point in HydeP ark beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The training is expected to last until approximately 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, US Coast Guard Commander Saunders told Mid-Hudson News.  The members of the USCG Sector New York Lower Hudson River Response Council gathered on Tuesday for a full day of classroom instruction in preparation for Wednesday’s large-scale event.
