Woman wanted for attempted murder captured after brief pursuit

POUGHKEEPSIE – A suspect wanted for stabbing and slashing a man on Mansion Street on May 11, 2022, was taken into custody after spotting her on Main Street Saturday night. The woman was captured after a struggle with officers and is now in the Dutchess County Jail.

Twenty-nine-year-old Kwatasia Storts, wanted for attempted murder after the May stabbing, was spotted by patrol officers near Main and South Cherry Streets at approximately 7:52 p.m. Saturday evening.

As officers approached Storts, she attempted to flee on foot. The officers pursued her and a struggle ensued before she was taken into custody.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Storts was also charged with resisting arrest.
During the struggle with the suspect, an officer was injured and treated by EMS personnel that responded to the scene.   Storts was processed, arraigned, and remanded to Dutchess County Jail on Saturday night..
