One dead, two wounded in latest Poughkeepsie gunfire

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 27-year-old Poughkeepsie man was shot to death and two others were wounded as gunfire rang out in the City of Poughkeepsie early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. near 386 Main Street.

The man who died was shot several times including once in the chest. He was rushed to MidHudson Regional Hospital where he died.

Two other victims arrived at Vassar Brothers Medical Center seeking treatment.

The second victim, a 31-year-old city resident, sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was undergoing surgery on Saturday and is expected to live, according to City of Poughkeepsie Police Detective Lieutenant Matt Clark.

The third victim, a 40-year-old city resident, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and the wound is considered non-life-threatening.

The dead man’s car was towed from the scene to the police impound yard.

Clark said, “There were multiple witnesses at the scene, none of whom were inclined to give a statement as to what they had witnessed.”
