NEWBURGH – Susan Valentino, the acting assistant principal at Newburgh Free Academy’s Main Campus, has been named acting principal at the main campus effective Friday, June 17. That announcement came from Ed Forgit, the interim superintendent of the Newburgh school district.

Former principal Edgar Glascott was reportedly escorted from the building on Thursday for unknown reasons.

However, sources said it may have had to do with chaotic circumstances surrounding the administration of the science Regents exam with students being sent to the wrong classrooms and teachers not knowing what to do about the confusion.

In 2013, Glascott resigned as Poughkeepsie High School principal following a settlement with the board of education over allegations that he gave students unauthorized accommodations during Regents exams.

Details of what transpired resulting in Glascott being replaced by Valentino at NFA Main could not be learned as of Friday evening.
