POUGHKEEPSIE – Police investigating a report of shots fired on Harrison Street Monday night heard additional gunfire in the vicinity of King Street Park and additional units responded to the second location.

City 911 received a report of a fight and shots fired at the park as officers were responding.  The arriving cops located 9mm shell casings in the park but did not locate any victims.

Police then received a call from MidHudson Regional Hospital, reporting that two victims had walked into the facility with gunshot wounds.  Two women, ages 20 and 21, had both sustained gunshot wounds to their left legs.  The wounds are considered non-life-threatening.

The vehicle in which the women arrived at the hospital had at least four bullet holes in it.

Neither victim would cooperate with the police who were trying to investigate the violent incident.

The investigation into both incidents continues. It’s believed there were multiple witnesses to what occurred in Kings Street Park, according to Detective Lieutenant Matt Clark, but all had either fled prior to police arrival or were not inclined to cooperate with the police.

Anyone with information on these incidents or any other incidents is asked to call the City of Poughkeepsie Police at 845-451-7577.
