LAGRANGE – A large colonial house built in 1810 caught fire on Thursday afternoon as workers were renovating the home on Noxon Road.  The LaGrange Fire Department was alerted to the fire at 12:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire on the second floor and attic of the structure.  The fire quickly went to a third alarm as firefighters made sure all of the contractors had been evacuated and then went to work on extinguishing the stubborn blaze.

The LaGrange Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Poughkeepsie, Arlington, Pleasant Valley, Union Vale, and East Fishkill fire departments.  A rescue rig from the Roosevelt Fire Department was summoned to the scene to provide an air-conditioned rig to allow the overheated firefighters to recover.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division.
