Body of missing swimmer recovered from Hudson

HAVERSTRAW – The body of a 19-year-old Spring Valley man who went missing around 6 a.m. on Monday near Haverstraw Beach State Park in Haverstraw was recovered from the Hudson River in the afternoon.

Police were notified in the morning concerning the whereabouts of Kevin Pinto.

A State Police Underwater Recovery Team along with local fire departments searched the water. A Rockland County Sheriff’s Office bloodhound, along with State Park Police, state troopers and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted with the ground search.

Pinto’s body was recovered in the afternoon with police saying there does not appear to be any foul play. The investigation is continuing.

State Police were assisted by Haverstraw Police, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, US Coast Guard, State Park Police an several local fire departments.
