PORT JERVIS – Decades ago the City of Port Jervis was a railroad town. In fact, the old train turntable is still there.

This weekend, an outdoor railroad museum is being launched with railroad cars from several eras on permanent display, said Mayor Kelly Decker.

“One of the original passenger cars that came out of Port Jervis into New York City back in the ‘70s is in the yard. There are engines in the yard, there are cabooses. The Barnum & Bailey Circus cars where the elephants were are there,” he said.

Decker said the historic museum will definitely be a draw for visitors into the city bounded by the Delaware and Neversink rivers.
