SAUGERTIES – A 28-year-old Saugerties man was released on his own recognizance twice following incidents in which he was charged with harassment, burglary, criminal mischief, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Saugerties Police said Spencer Sutton, Jr. was arrested on May 20 on an active warrant issued by Saugerties Town Justice Court on a charge of harassment for allegedly attempting to lure another man into a fight.

Spencer was released on his own recognizance.

Shortly after being released from the court, police said Simon returned to a Bunny Road address in the town where his four-year-old child was staying, and while the child’s mother was at work, kicked in the front door of the home, pushed away a woman there and forcibly took the child.

Sutton fled, reportedly in a highly intoxicated condition, and the following day, he was arrested by Catskill Village Police.

He was processed again in Saugerties Court and released, this time with an order to report to Ulster County Probation’s pre-trial release and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
