MONTICELLO – Village Police in Monticello arrested a local man as he smashed a rock through the front door of the Route 42 South Liquor Store early Wednesday morning.

While Police Officer George Mendez was on patrol around 1:25 a.m., he spotted Paul Delorenzo, 37, of Monticello, trying to kick the rest of the door in.

When Delorenzo was confronted and told he was under arrest, he ran and after being warned several times to stop-, he disregarded the command.

As a result, Sgt. Mathew Rohner released his police K-9 “Deca,” who quickly apprehended him.

Delorenzo was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending further court action.

Police said additional charges are pending.
